As soon as you start leveling up in Last Epoch, you will have a handful of skills to change on your hot bar, but actually moving them can be a bit confusing. To help you get all your abilities sorted, I’ll cover how you can easily start changing them.

Left click any space on your hotbar so you can open a panel and change skills in Last Epoch. There is no screen in the game where you can manage your hotbar and swap out your abilities with a simple drag. Just like some other classic ARPGs, all the skill swaps are done on the hotbar itself. On a controller, scrolling over the abilities will give you the same option to open up a panel. On either input, just pick the new skill you want from the panel and it will be placed on the bar.

Any skills you unlock in Last Epoch are automatically placed into the panel. For example, if I’m playing a Rogue and I’m waiting for the Puncture skill, it will automatically appear in the panel after level 5. Once I reach the set level, I can choose to place Puncture in any of my hotbar slots. That even means I can fill the entire bar with the same Puncture skill. I wouldn’t recommend using the same skills but it’s still possible.

Not everything in Last Epoch will be done through the hotbar. All of the passives and specializations are upgraded through the skills or passives screen. If you are used to other RPGs, then the passive screens are likely much more familiar. As you unlock Mastery points or skill levels, you simply spend them on a tree to make your character more powerful.

Don’t forget to kick things off with one of the best leveling classes in Last Epoch for a better grasp of the game.
