Surprisingly, yes. You can launch and play Last Epoch on Steam Deck with minimal concerns, as the game already features partial controller support. Despite many within the community finding the handheld experience to be above par, developer Eleventh Hour Games does not officially support the Steam Deck. They’re busy finishing the game and adding content to the ever-expanding end-game dungeons and arenas. As such, Last Epoch is listed as “Unsupported” under Steam Deck Compatibility.
But don’t let that stop you! Download the game on your Steam Deck, run it in experimental, and you’ll soon find yourself grinding to the max level in Last Epoch in short order.
Notable Issues With Last Epoch on Steam Deck
With all of that said, Last Epoch on Steam Deck is not a silky smooth experience. At least, not yet. The ARPG is not officially supported, so it isn’t properly optimized for Valve’s handheld system. You can still download and play the game with minimal effort, though.
Some notable issues with the game include:
- Occasional graphical glitches and fragmenting.
- Small text and UI.
- Random crashes with too many enemies on the screen.
- Laggy menus.
- The sound occasionally cuts out.
Besides the crashes that could potentially corrupt your progress, most of these issues are minor and easily overlooked if you genuinely want to play the game. And it’s important to note that many of these issues appeared sparsely, besides the issue of small text and UI. Otherwise, most people had a positive experience with no problems.
