If you’ve reached the endgame in Monster Hunter World, you’ll be hunting for ever-rarer crafting materials. Among these are Great Spiritvein Gems – one of the game’s highest-rarity items – used for a myriad of crafts, upgrades, and augments.
Where to Find Great Spiritvein Gems in Monster Hunter World
Great Spiritvein Gems are found as dropped materials, capture rewards, or carved rewards from high-difficulty Tempered monsters. They are exceedingly rare, but since they can be obtained from multiple sources in a single fight, let’s take a look at which monsters you’ll need to hunt for a shot at them.
Specifically, you’ll need to hunt Tempered level 3 monsters to find Great Spiritvein Gems. This is, as you might’ve guessed, the highest Tempered level available and consists of the following (non-Event) monsters:
- Vaal Hazak / Blackveil Vaal Hazak.
- Teostra.
- Lunastra.
- Kushala Daora.
- Gold Rathian.
- Silver Rathalos.
- Nergigante / Ruiner Nergigante.
- Savage Deviljo.
- Kirin.
- Stygian Zinogre.
- Namielle.
- Rajang.
- Seething Bazelgeuse.
- Velkhana.
Great Spiritvein Gems are aggravatingly rare, with a drop rate of about 3%, but there are ways to beat the odds:
Break monster parts – By breaking parts, you can get your hands on dropped materials (those shiny bits that fall off the monster while you’re fighting.) The Tempered monsters above have a small chance at being a Great Spiritvein Gem.
Capture, don’t kill – Since capturing monsters gives bonus rewards, and those bonus rewards have a chance to be Great Spiritvein Gems, we’ll want to prioritize capturing when possible. This obviously doesn’t apply to Elder Dragons, which cannot be captured.
Since you’re going up against the hardest challenge the game has to offer, you’re going to want to specialize your armor for your weapon of choice, with a healthy dose of “comfy” survivability attributes. If you have any decoration slots to spare, however, Destroyer Gems can help you snag those extra part breaks and chances at Spiritvein Gems.
If you’re looking for a slightly less endgame crafting material, maybe our Brutal Bone Guide will be of help.
