To get ADS and strafing kills in MW3, aim down sights, move side-to-side with your enemy in your sight/crosshair, and continuously fire. Some players, myself included, opt for precision in such circumstances and only fire when the shot is lined up perfectly. Others, however, choose to spray and pray in a sweeping motion while strafing to cover as much ground as possible.
On top of taking down enemies and completing challenges, strafing is an excellent maneuver for when a sniper has you pinned down and you want to ensure they miss their shots. You can frantically move side-to-side, mixing up your movements to ensure incoming shots fly to the side.
What Do ADS and Strafing Kills Unlock in MW3?
While strafing while ADS is not an officially recognized type of kill in Modern Warfare 3, unlike, say, a melee kill, it does feature in numerous challenges for those trying to unlock Forged Camo.
The Forged Camo Challenges That Require ADS and Strafing
Many Forged Camo Challenges, such as unlocking the Forged AMR9, require you to obtain a specific number of player kills while running the weapon system in ADS. Others, like the Forged DG-58, ask you to obtain ten player kills while strafing and using ADS. You need to combine both techniques for such weapon camo unlocks, and many new players find that difficult.
After all, Call of Duty is usually about fluid movement and fast-paced actions. Both strafing and ADS require you to slow down momentarily to line up your shot while drifting to one side or the other more slowly than when you move forward.
