Overwatch 2: How to Get the Hard Light Weapon Skins

Echo's color scheme has made its way to some weapons.

With Overwatch 2 Season 8, select characters can now use a new weapon skin to change their weapon while not changing their character skin. Here’s how to get the Hard Light weapon skins in Overwatch 2.

How to Get the Hard Light Skins for Reinhardt, Reaper, and Mercy in Overwatch 2

The Hard Light weapon skins can appear as one of the items in the Item Shop, presumably available for premium Overwatch Coins. This means that you’ll need to wait until the skins appear there before you can purchase them and equip them to your character. Presumably, these weapon skins will be purchasable per character unless included in a bundle. This means you could buy a weapon skin for Soldier: 76 without buying it for everyone.

Once you do own the Hard Light weapon skins, you’ll be able to equip them to whichever skin you want for that character. As well, I noticed in my testing that you can have golden versions of weapon skins. I was testing it with Reaper, who I have gold weapons for, and his shotguns turn entirely gold outside of the blue from Hard Light. I don’t know why you’d want to mix light blue and gold but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Will More Weapon Skins Be Added Later?

From the looks of things, more weapon skins will be added down the line. They likely won’t add more until all characters have access to the Hard Light weapon skins, but at Blizzcon back in November 2023, Emerald weapon skins were shown off. Mind you, these were promised as competitive rewards, but they’re weapon skins nonetheless.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking into more details about the new season, check out our guide on all battle pass rewards with Overwatch 2 Season 8.
