How to Get the Stormrider’s Armor Set

The Stormrider’s Ensemble is available with a pre-purchase of either the Heroic ($69.99) or Epic ($89.99) editions of WoW’s next expansion: The War Within. This is the only source of these transmog pieces, and it includes instant access to the entire outfit, including a helmet, shoulderpads, chest piece, gloves, belt, pants, and boots. Whether or not you want it to glow with lightning requires a few additional steps.

How to Upgrade to the Thundering Stormrider’s Set

In order to make your armor crackle with the power of lightning, you’ll need to complete a series of Dragonflying races which begin at the location shown below.

The seven races, which require you to use the Algarian Stormrider mount (which you’ll also gain access to through your purchase), take you around the Dragon Isles on a brief circuit. There is no medal requirement for the upgrade, and you’ll be granted the Thundering Stormrider’s ensemble, featuring animated lightning effects. So just follow the quests, complete the races at your own pace, and the set is yours.

This won’t replace the Standard version, so you’ll be free to mix and match pieces from each set if you’d like! Both will be available in your collections tab for transmog.

A quick aside: it might go without saying, but these are purely cosmetic armor pieces, usable by any class, and confer no power to your character. No pay-for-power here, just pay-to-look-powerful. But hey: look good, play good, right?
