How to Equip Charms in Alan Wake 2

Who knew you could get so much in a tiny package?

Playing as either Saga or Alan in Alan Wake 2 presents a number of differences that can massively affect gameplay, including Saga’s system for acquiring small buffs. Here’s how to equip charms in Alan Wake 2.

How to Put Charms on in Alan Wake 2

To equip charms in Alan Wake 2, open your inventory using CTRL on keyboard, Y on Xbox, or Triangle on PlayStation. From there, select one of the charms you have in your inventory and click on it, then click Move. Then, move the charm into one of the three slots on the right of your inventory to equip it. If you have a charm that you don’t want to use but don’t want to take up a precious inventory slot, you can place it in a shoebox located in most Safe Havens.

Each charm will provide you with a small buff that can be useful in combat. For example, my three charms increase my max health, allow attacks to stagger enemies more often, and can save me from death (though the last one shatters in the process). As such, having a good set of charms can make a world of difference.

How to Get More Charms

If you want more charms to use in combat, then you’ll need to complete the Nursery Rhyme puzzles located across Alan Wake 2. Some good examples of early charms can be found at both Cauldron Lake and Bright Falls, provided you can solve their respective riddles. These involve dolls that you can likely find nearby. Keep hunting around the game’s world, and you should find some Nursery Rhyme puzzles to complete in no time.

Alan Wake 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re looking for more information regarding puzzles, check out our guide on how to get the Rock Rock Tree combination lock open in Alan Wake 2.
