How to Use WoW’s Dreamsurge Rewards for Quick Normal and Heroic Aberrus Transmog

Got that mog in you?

It’s a little annoying to run difficult dungeons or do heroic raids and get some sweet-looking armor, only to realize you don’t have the transmog appearance of the lower tier of the same set. There’s little recourse for getting the Aberrus, the Shadow Crucible tier set in their Normal and Heroic variants beyond obtaining the appropriate item-level pieces and taking them over to the Revival Catalyst to be converted into tier. But I may have just found a simple way to get both in one fell swoop, in case you’re looking to downgrade your look a little bit. Here’s how to use World of Warcraft’s Dreamsurge Rewards for Aberrus Transmogs.

By picking up the quest from Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem, who’s located very near the giant green Dreamsurge icon (see the image above) in the currently-affected zone, you can obtain an armor piece of your choice at item level 415. Just turn this in at the Revival Catalyst (location below) using one of your weekly charges to immediately unlock the “Normal” raid tier color.

If you’re after that Heroic hue, you’re in luck! All you have to do is upgrade your newly crafted piece of gear to item level 428 using Flightstones and Whelpling Crests, found in raids and dungeons. I am assuming, of course, that if you’re trying to get the appearances lower than Mythic in this roundabout way, you already know what I’m talking about.

Blizzard’s devs have mentioned that they’re looking into a system for granting players all of the “previous” color transmogs as they unlock higher versions of a particular set, but those plans are, presumably, still in the early stages. Until then, maybe take a look at some Heritage armor unlocks to up your fashion game?
