How to Fix Cyberpunk 2077 Crashing on Launch (PS5)

Installing new Cyberware

Like plenty of other PlayStation 5 players, you might be facing crashes any time you launch Cyberpunk 2077. After the transfer to the Update 2.0 patch, there are some issues with combining your previous game. Here’s how to solve Cyberpunk 2077 crashing on PS5.

How to Fix PS5 Error CE-108255-1 for Cyberpunk 2077

To fix your Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 crashing on launch with error CE-108255-1, you need to uninstall and reinstall the game. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be another way around the issue, and if your game keeps crashing as soon as you try to start, then you’re only left with removing them until future updates come out.

The issue appears to be from the massive Update 2.0 patch that essentially overhauls all of Cyberpunk 2077 and sets the stage for the Phantom Liberty expansion. If you had the game installed before Update 2.0 was released on September 21, then there is a strong chance for the game to crash as soon as you launch.

To uninstall the game, either head into your library or use the options button on the game icon in your home screen. You can easily uninstall from there and then just start the download again in your recent collection. This time the game should install with the 2.0 Update.

Other Common PS5 Cyberpunk Glitches, and Potential Fix Options

Even if you’ve been able to launch the game successfully on PS5, the 2.02 update has been giving PS5 players a lot of trouble. Here are the common glitches/bugs PS5 players are experiencing:

  • The game crashing in any fight/combat sequence.
  • Playing the game for a long time (glitchless), and then giving a command, like entering a car, will suddenly crash the game.
  • Glitching and crashing the game when entering Dogtown, and interacting in Dogtown.
  • Issues with fighting large groups of hostiles.

It’s worth noting that most, if not all, of these issues that PS5 players are reporting are because of the newest Cyberpunk 2077 update. Some of these issues can be resolved by disabling cross saves, restarting the game, and turning off graphic options like motion blur and film grain.

However, these issues may not be solved as it seems to be an inherent PS5 problem.

For players that don’t have PlayStation Plus, this can cause extra issues due to having less cloud access. Your most recent saves could be wiped in Cyberpunk 2077, which means there is a chance new characters are necessary. This won’t always happen, but at least Update 2.0 is the best time to make a fresh V in Cyberpunk 2077.
