With various statuses available but limited Ergo to level them all, knowing which one is the best can be difficult in a blind playthrough of Lies of P. Motivity and Technique will prove themselves to be some of the most useful as they increase your damage dealt, but which one of the two is the best choice? Time to find that out.
What Is the Difference Between Motivity and Technique in Lies of P?
The most significant difference between them is that Motivity is better for Heavy Weapons, while Technique benefits Light Weapons more. Both will increase your Physical Attack regardless of your weapon of choice, but you’ll get more of them when using the appropriate weapons for them.
Both also give a slight increase to your Legion Arm’s damage, but Motivity increases it more than Technique. The Motivity damage bonus is the same as Advance, which is the Legion Arm dedicated status, so it’s not a small deal.
Motivity is better for the classical Heavy Claymore or Greatsword builds, where your aim is to hit slow but hit hard. It usually increases its hits by 3 points, while only giving a small +1 boost to other lighter weapons. You should pair it with Capacity and Vitality when going for these builds, as you’ll probably have to block way more than dodge.
Technique, on the other hand, does exactly the opposite. You should aim for that when using mostly swords, daggers, rapiers, or other fast-hitting weapons. Their damage isn’t as good as the big heavy weapons, but they make up for it with various consecutive hits.
No weapon type is better than the other, and there are various options for both playstyles in the game, so just go with the one you feel more comfortable with.
If you enjoy using Legion Arms even with a Lighter build, allocating a few points in Motivity might not be a bad idea since you still get extra overall damage. But heavier builds will probably be better by completely skipping Technique whenever they can. And if you suddenly feel like changing your main weapon, you can always respec your status anytime after reaching Chapter VII.
