There are plenty of reasons a game can be considered a Souls-like, but there are usually a few basic features that follow every version along for the ride. One of the biggest tells if a game has taken a fair bit of inspiration from the Dark Souls and Elden Ring series is the inclusion of Invincibility Frames or I-Frames for short. Will you find yourself ducking and dodging with the best of them in Lies of P, or will you need to start working on your evasion skills before tackling the biggest bosses this game has to offer?

As you take part in some of the most impressive boss battles available in a Souls-like, trying to dodge and parry your way to victory can be a rather impressive feat. Thankfully, if you’ve spent countless hours in the worlds that FromSoftware has created, the I-Frames are something familiar that you can feel in the nimble combat that Lies of P brings to the table. To answer the question above, yes, Lies of P does offer I-Frames, but it isn’t the best way to play.

While Lies of P has taken plenty of inspiration from the worlds of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, it’s also taken more than a few notes from the world of Sekiro. Parrying will be the most effective defensive tool you can bring to the battles before you, especially since you can shatter the weapons that your enemies are bringing by executing a Perfect Parry.

So, while I-Frames also exist in this world, mastering the Perfect Parry alongside the timing of I-Frames will be rather significant. The combat in this particular world is rather impressive, with an incredible feeling of weightiness to it, and the satisfaction of nailing a Perfect Parry is something that other games in the genre wish they could accomplish.

No matter if you’re already breezing through the game or can’t seem to get past the Parade Master which offers the first real skill-check of the game, be sure to give our Lies of P section below a browse. Plenty is here, and we’ll help on every step of your adventure.
