How to Find the Masterpiece Teacup in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

What won't we spend hours farming for?

While green tea can be made in so many ways, the green tea-based artisan Poltchageist Pokemon believe in craftsmanship, and thus will only evolve with the Masterpiece Teacup. You’ll need it if you want a remarkable cup of spooky matcha in the form of Sinistcha, so here’s how to find the Masterpiece Teacup in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Find the Masterpiece Teacup in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

If you’re one of the lucky trainers who managed to find an Artisan Form Poltchageist, we’re so ridiculously envious of you. Poltchageist’s authentic form is almost indistinguishable from the counterfeits, save for an authenticity stamp on the bottom of its cup.

And once you’ve found the real deal, this authentic artisan Poltchageist can only be evolved using the Masterpiece Teacup. The Masterpiece Teacup can only be found in one location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: in the Timeless Woods.

More specifically, it can only be found in the cave to the very bottom west of the Timeless Woods. You’ll know you’ve found the right cave because there will be a Snorlax blocking its entrance.

Once you’re inside, you’ll find that the cave is home to Bisharp, Sneasel, and Dunsparce. But it’s also the only location where you can find the Masterpiece Teacup.

Get the Masterpiece Teacup from Ogre Oustin’

You can find the Masterpiece Teacup in a cave at the bottom-west of Timeless Woods, but you also have a chance of getting one as a reward in Ogre Oustin’.

After you’ve beaten Ogre Oustin’ once on each difficulty, the selection of prizes you receive from each new playthrough will be random, and can include the Masterpiece Teacup.

Typically, the higher the difficulty you select for Ogre Oustin’, the better and more numerous the items you’ll receive. So we recommend playing on higher difficulties if you’re trying to grind for that teacup. The hard difficulty of Ogre Oustin’ can be especially brutal, so if you’re having trouble with it, check out our Ogre Oustin’ guide for some tips and tricks to help you through it.

How to Get Artisan Form Poltchageist in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask DLC

Before you can use the Masterpiece Teacup in Pokemon’s Teal Mask DLC, you’ll first need to make sure your Poltchageist is Artisan Form. You can check the authenticity of your spooky tea ghost by checking their underside. If they’re artisanal, they’ll have a small black stamp on their bottom right-side rim.

If your Poltchageist is not artisanal and you’ll settle for nothing less, there’s about a 1% chance you’ll find one in the wild. This means you’ll need to catch about 100 Poltchageist before one of them turns up authentic. But who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky and catch one much sooner. It’s all RNG after all.

It’s worth noting that both Poltchageist and Sinistcha can not breed Artisan Form Poltchageist. Every Poltchageist you breed will be counterfeit. If you want that stamp of authenticity on your cup of spectral tea, you’ll need to find it out in the wild.

You can find Poltchageist floating around Reveler’s Road and Mossfell Confluence. It’s in the southeast of the Kitakami region. But make sure you’re really keeping your eyes peeled because this cup of tea is tiny. It’ll look a black dot on your screen until you run into it.

Poltchageist and Sinistcha Tera Raids

Of course there is a chance you can find both Poltchageist and Sinistcha in Tera Raids. Poltchageist you’ll find in 3-Star Tera Raids, but it will always be counterfeit, so if you’re looking for an Artisan Poltchageist, you won’t find it there.

But you can get Masterpiece Sinistcha from 6-Star Tera Raids. The masterpiece stamp of approval is not guaranteed, but if you do manage to catch one here, it will eliminate the need for a Masterpiece Teacup altogether. Note that Sinistcha in 5-Star Tera Raids will always be the counterfeit Unremarkable Form.

How to Evolve Poltchageist in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask DLC

With the Masterpiece Teacup in your possession, you’ll be able to evolve the authentic Artisan Form Poltchageist. Just have Poltchageist in your team. Then go to your inventory, then the “other” submenu. Find the Masterpiece Teacup and opt to use it on Poltchageist. If the Poltchageist is authentic, it will evolve into the Masterpiece Sinistcha. But if your Poltchageist is actually a counterfeit, you’ll need the Unremarkable Teacup instead.
