Reactions are mixed to the possibility of Honkai: Star Rail introducing Double Warp Banners as soon as the 1.4 Update. Double Banners normally feature characters that have already run alongside new ones that are being introduced. Thus far, leaks have alluded to the idea that Seele from Jarilo-VI will have a rerun somewhere alongside either Jingliu’s Banner or Topaz’s Banner come the next update.

For reference, HoYoverse’s sister game, Genshin Impact, debuted two five-stars running simultaneously in Version 2.3, a year after the game had first been released. At the time, Genshin concluded its first anniversary and had a total of 19 five stars, with five of them being allocated to the Standard Banner. As of 1.3, Honkai: Star Rail has been active for six months and has a total of 13 five-stars, with seven of them belonging to the Standard Banner.

All in all, reactions from the community have been all over the board, with a low number being positive, but rather shocked at the fact that Honkai: Star Rail is already introducing double banners. The game doesn’t have nearly enough five stars to consistently run Double Banners at this rate, especially since the game only seems to be releasing new characters with each update that comes out.

Major concerns float around the idea that it is far too soon for Honkai: Star Rail to introduce Double Banners, but are open to the idea of reruns so that players can have a grace period to save their Stellar Jades or collect on characters that they had originally skipped or missed out on.

On the other hand, this does allow for new players who have arrived late or will be joining via PlayStation 5 to pull for characters that previously weren’t available. It also saves time instead of waiting for another year for a character to rerun, which is a common issue that is prevalent in Genshin Impact. For example, Eula was a character who ran the longest without seeing a rerun at approximately 18 months.

While this may save some woes for players who are just joining the Astral Express with the rest of the community, namely the PS5 players, given that the release was pushed back to Q4, it still hasn’t hit a strong accord with the majority of the community whether on Reddit or Twitter, given that this only widens the specs of which banner to choose from with fewer funds within each patch to get those characters freely. While the game does thrive on having a large cast of characters, there are also concerns that this may lead to the story lacking when there isn’t enough time devoted to expanding on those characters.

Whether Honkai: Star Rail will continue to move on with these plans has yet to be seen since these are only leaks and speculations from the community at large. They are not set in stone and may change in light of people speaking their peace or the company deciding to hold back on reruns alongside new characters.
