The new Armored Core has arrived, to the delight of FromSoftware fans. This company has reached the top of the gaming industry thanks to its Souls titles, such as Bloodborne and Elden Ring. However, long before Souls-mania, they had other games, like the Armored Core franchise. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is a reboot of the series and the first Armored Core title since 2012.

Let’s check out how Armored Core’s latest release, Fires of Rubicon, is faring with critics. We’ll compare its Metascore on Metacritic to other FromSoftware games and older Armored Core titles.

Armored Core 6 Metacritic Scores

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon for the PlayStation 5 currently has a Metascore of 87 with over 50 reviews. The PC version also has an average score of 87 with 27 reviews. Armored Core 6 on Xbox Series X is collectively rated somewhat lower, with a Metacritic score of 79 and only eight reviews.

Moving on to last-gen consoles, neither the PlayStation 4 nor Xbox One have the minimum of four reviews required to form a Metascore. If you’re still playing games on older hardware, you can read some next-gen reviews where some reviewers mention performance and impressions from versions for old hardware. Alternatively, wait for Digital Foundry and similar detailed, in-depth tech reviews on YouTube.

How Does Armored Core 6’s Metacritic Score Compare to Other FromSoftware Games?

In comparison, Elden Ring has the highest Metascore of 96 for PS5 and 94 for PC among FromSoftware games on Metacritic. Bloodborne for PS4 follows with a rating of 92, and most other Souls games score in the low 90s or high 80s. The new Armored Core has a Metascore of 87, rating better than only some PC and Xbox One versions of Dark Souls and other legacy FromSoftware games.

Regarding older Armored Core titles, Fires of Rubicon seems to be the highest-rated game in the series ever. Previous Armored Core titles range from the mid-70s to high 60s, making the new game look very good score-wise.
