When is the Next Rust Console Wipe? – Answered

The much-needed wipe that comes but once a month.

Rust Console Wipe Schedule

When discussing most survival games, especially those with a heavy multiplayer focus, you can’t help but bring up a wipe schedule. After all, who wants to play the neverending survival experience? A monthly wipe proves most necessary in a game like Rust, which revolves around coming up from nothing to become a metal sheet armor-wearing PvP monster capable of raiding everyone. But when is the next Rust console wipe? And how often do the official servers wipe?

When Does Rust Wipe on Consoles?

When it comes to official servers, which most console players will wind up on, the game wipes once per month. That wipe occurs on the last Thursday of every month at approximately 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. BST. The only reason why this schedule would change is if the developers have difficulty releasing the next update to the live branch.

For future reference, the console version of Rust will wipe on the following days in 2023:

  • August 31.
  • September 28.
  • October 26.
  • November 30.
  • December 28.

When Do Rust Community Servers Wipe?

While it’s true that community servers in Rust have their own schedule, they must still wipe on the last Thursday of the month like everyone else. This is typically when the developer introduces a new update, often including additional content and bug fixes.

However, many community servers keep their wipe schedule. This may include a three-day, one-week, or monthly wipe schedule.

What Does a Rust Wipe Mean?

A wipe in Rust comes in two flavors: Map Wipe and Force Wipe. A Map Wipe typically occurs sometime between the official Force Wipe. For a server that wipes weekly to keep things fresh for hardcore PvP players, this is a Map Wipe. But it’s a Force Wipe for the last Thursday of the month.

These wipes will completely erase all progress on the server. They will generate a new map seed, which changes where monuments are located and the overall shape of the island, and any bases, loot, and characters from the previous wipe will be deleted entirely. Everyone starts fresh!
