Observer is one of the achievements in Halls of Torment that is highly bothering the player base these days. The text is rather simple: “Survive 28 minutes without using your main weapon”. However, for some players, it does not count. I was one of those players too, until I figured out the reason why this achievement was “bugged” for me (and many other players). In this article, I will show you the simplest fix that will make you facepalm, but at the same time, you will understand why the solution works the way it does. Here’s how to get the Observer achievement in Halls of Torment.
How to Solve Observer Achievement Bug in Halls of Torment
The scenario is usually as follows: You jump into a level, and quickly disable your “Auto Attack” feature in the menu, feeling lucky that your character hasn’t made an attack yet. 28 minutes pass, but the achievement notification is nowhere to be seen. Well, both you and me did something wrong. Something very, very wrong.

The game is programmed in a way that the “attack intent” is detected in the first second of the game even though nothing happened on your screen before you headed out into the settings. This is why the achievement won’t work.
The solution for this is to go to the Settings prior to the run, and disable the Auto Attack feature there and then. The screenshot of this feature in Settings is available below.
There you go! It’s the “why didn’t I think of this” level of solution. It took me three runs to get it right.
How to Get the Observer Achievement in Halls of Torment
Well, since you won’t be using your main attack, I advise you to take the following items:
- Wind Crown
- Jade Amulett
- Spellcaster Gloves (+66.6% Ability power when you do not use the main attack!)
- Demonic Bond and Necromancer’s Clutch
- rest is up to your preference.
This will make your survival chances better and will provide you with some attacks to start out.
