There are quite a few ferocious felines in Final Fantasy 16. And lurking in The Cattery is one more, which is deadset on putting fang to frontal lobe. Here’s how to find the Grimalkin in Final Fantasy 16, and all the rewards you get for killing it.
Grimalkin Hunt Location & Rewards in Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI)
Once you reach a certain point in the main quest, Clive will be absolutely drowning in Notorious Marks haunting Dhalmekia. Grimalkin is one of the easier marks there, as it’s Rank-C. When you first encounter it, it will be level 32.
To find this feisty feline, head to The Jaw on the world map.
From The Jaw obelisk, you’ll need to go north then turn right into The Sickle. The moment you get into The Sickle, turn right again, following the long trail to its very end. If you find yourself in The Fields of Corava, you’ve gone too far.
At the end of the trail, you’ll encounter Fallen Ruins. Continue inward, and at the center, you’ll find a large-fanged cat and a pack of five Wild Nakk, with each Wild Nakk at level 28.
You’ll need to defeat four waves of Wild Nakk before Grimalkin will come off its perch and fight you itself. Fortunately, the Wild Nakk are no harder to beat than normal mobs.
Grimalkin is also a very straightforward fight. It attacks by either lashing out with its front paw or spinning, which is the harder of the two moves to dodge. Its special attack is Savage, which will have it lunge forward, swiping in the air, in a straight line. Beyond that, it’s just your standard monster with a heftier health bar.

Rewards for Defeating Grimalkin in Final Fantasy 16
Upon defeating Grimalkin, you’ll get the following rewards:
- Grimalkin Hide (exclusive crafting material)
- 500 Experience points
- 45 Ability Points
- 6,100 Gold
- 10 Renown
