Minecraft is known for quite a lot of different entities, whether they’re humans, animals, plants, or supernatural beings, and it seems that Mojang does not intend to stop implementing more stuff to play with (or against) in Minecraft. The Sniffer is the latest addition of new mobs with Patch 1.20 called “Trails and Tales”, and it was done by the Minecraft Mob Vote in 2022, where Sniffer won decisively with over half of the votes. Now, all of the Minecraft players are wondering if Sniffer is tameable and how you can tame one in Minecraft. We’ll have your answer below.

Can you Tame a Sniffer in Minecraft?

As of Patch 1.20, you cannot tame a Sniffer, sadly. Indeed, there is an opportunity to breed Sniffers in Minecraft, but you won’t be able to directly tame it. It’s wild, leave it be. You should protect them, and you can build a fence around the field you wish to designate for your Sniffer farm.

However, if you want to move Sniffers around, you can do that with the good ol’ Leash (Lead in-game). Here’s how you can craft a Lead in Minecraft.

What do Sniffers do in Minecraft?

Sniffers are useful for your farm since they constantly excavate random stuff from the ground. Sometimes, useful stuff drops, including the Torchflower Seeds which are pivotal for the growth of your Sniffer farm. Mojang should be adding more stuff that can be excavated by the Sniffer soon™, so stay tuned.
