Who is the Protagonist in FFXVI? – Answered

The main protagonist of FFXVI is Clive Rosfield. The firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria. Clive is of noble descent, and is known as a “Branded.”

In the world of Final Fantasy XVI, people who harness the power of the Eikons are known as “Dominants,” and while Clive can wield their power, he is not a Dominant himself. Our protagonist uses the powers of Pheonix, Ifrit, Shiva, and more to smite his foes.

Clive is the older brother to Joshua Rosfield, the second son of the Archduke of Rosaria. Joshua is the dominant of Phoenix and the crux of Clive’s quest in FFXVI.

We follow Clive at multiple points in his life, from when he was young all the way to adulthood. Throughout the campaign we will learn about his past, present, and future goals and tribulations.
