Why are Gold Bars Disappearing in Fortnite? – Answered

Riches to rags.

Gold Bars are the main currency in Fortnite that players can use to upgrade weapons, hire Specialists, or even reroll their Reality Augments. Gold is meant to be accumulated match after match, but in the latest Battle Royale V.24.20 update, they seem to be disappearing for some players.

There is no warning for Gold Bars disappearing, and at the start of a random match, you could go from 5,000 bars down to nothing. Of course, this is confusing and you’re likely looking for answers. We’ll go over what we know about the disappearances and provide any updates along the way.

Fortnite – Why are Gold Bars Disappearing?

At the time of this writing, which is April 11 after the Attack on Titan crossover went live, the removal of gold from player inventories appears to be an annoying bug with a solution. It’s aggravating to see all of the Gold Bars you’ve collected suddenly drop down to nothing like the season just started.

So far, there has been no comment from Epic Games so there is no clear cause of the problem. However, there are plenty of players taking to social media, asking where all of their hard-earned gold has gone in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Each match appears to reset the bars back to zero with the bug as well, so you won’t be able to continue collecting for the time being. Luckily, there is a fix.

How to Fix the Gold Bars Bug in Fortnite

The good news is that you can fix the problem most of the time by restarting your game. If you continue to play without restarting, you will continue to lose your bars. When you load back in, you should have all of your original currency before the bug became an issue.

Considering Epic hasn’t mentioned the problem yet, there is no timeline for a fix, so restarts are your best friend for now. There was no mention of any new changes to Gold though, so expect this to be a bug due to the V.24.20 update and hopefully, we get a fix soon.
